Walid A. Mufarrij, M.D., F.A.C.S. was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1949 to an internist and a homemaker. He earned his BS in Biology in 1969 and his M.D. in 1973 from the American University Of Beirut. He then moved to Baltimore for his residency in General Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Hospital. Because of his interest in Urologic surgery he was accepted for his residency at the New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center by the legendary Dr Victor F. Marshall. During his urology residency in New York City he trained in the treatment of urologic cancer under Dr Willet Whitmore at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After he completed his urologic training in 1979 he was recruited by the American University of Beirut School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of surgery (urology) and, to become Chief of Urology in 1982. Because of the Lebanese civil war Dr. Mufarrij uprooted his family and moved to the Washington area in 1984 where he started his private practice in urology. Dr Mufarrij is trained in all facets of urologic diseases and is committed to deliver the best care to his patients. He values very deeply the sanctity of the patient physician relationship.

Dr. and Mrs. Mufarrij have three sons: Patrick, Paul and Philip. Patrick is a urologist who will soon join the George Washington University school of Medicine Department of Urology as an Assistant Professor. They are also the proud grandparents of twin girls Mackenzie and Madelyn.
